MY COMMISIONS PROCESS
Commissions are a collaborative process where Ted Lee works closely with clients to create unique custom paintings. About 90% of Ted’s paintings are commissioned. Here is a step-by-step guide to the commission process:
INITIAL CONSULTATION AND AGREEMENT
To kick off the process, Ted initiates a conversation with the designer or client. Communication occurs via phone, email, or in person. In some cases, depending on location, he may visit the client in their preferred location to discuss the vision for the custom painting. Once the artistic direction, preferred size, and timing are established, a mutual agreement is formed. At this stage, Ted requests a percentage of the total commission between 25%-50% as a deposit to begin the artwork.
PROGRESS UPDATES, ADJUSTMENTS, AND FINAL TOUCHES
With the details in place, Ted will start working on the piece. Clients have the option to visit his studio if they wish. Throughout the creation process, Ted keeps clients informed by sending progress photos. This allows for real-time feedback and adjustments based on their preferences. Once the painting is completed, Ted makes the final touches and ensures it aligns with the client’s expectations. Client satisfaction is Ted’s priority, so he strives for 100% flexibility to ensure the painting reflects their vision.
COMPLETION, FRAMING, AND INSTALLATION
The entire process, from initiation to delivery, typically takes 30-45 days, depending on the specific requirements and collaboration with the client. Upon completion, the artwork is handed off to a framer unless the client prefers otherwise. Installation services can also be arranged as per the client's preference. A complete turn-key process is the goal.
